Alan Leroy Ward (Al) Obituary

A Life of Service and Faith

Alan L. Ward, a former United Methodist Minister and Program Director of Northwest Harvest Food Bank, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024. He was 83 years old.

Alan was born in Vancouver, Washington, and grew up in a devout Christian family. He met his wife, Judith, in church choir and they married in 1963. He worked various jobs before pursuing his calling to the ministry. He graduated from seminary and served as a pastor for several churches in Washington state, revitalizing their congregations and communities. He also served as the Chaplain of the Selah Police Department, where he supported and befriended the officers.

After retiring from the ministry, Alan continued his life of service as the Program Director of Northwest Harvest Food Bank in Seattle, Washington. He helped to provide food and resources to thousands of people in need.

He was a wise and compassionate counselor, who offered advice and guidance to many people until his last days. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and hiking in the mountains. He taught his children the values of family, loyalty, faith, and integrity.

Alan was a good and faithful servant, who answered the Lord's call when his work was done. He is survived by his wife, Judith A. Ward; his daughter Jana L. Brown (spouse- Bryant Brown), and his son Jim F. Ward (spouse- Nadine James Ward). The family will spread his ashes in the mountains he called home.
