Anita Roe Davie Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anita Roe Davie, age 93, on September 20, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and cousin whose life was defined by devotion, integrity, and a boundless love for her family. Anita was born on October 17, 1930, in Seattle, Washington to Arthur and Viola Roe. Anita graduated from Lincoln High School and the University of Washington where she received a BS in Home Economics. It was in college that she met Earl Davie, her husband of 68 years, and they were married on July 19, 1952. She and Earl had sons Jim and John, and daughters Karen and Marilyn, whom they raised in Bellevue. Anita inspired those around her with her unwavering support and commitment to the well-being of her loved ones. While Earl was the brains of the family, Anita was the heart and soul.

Anita's journey took her around the globe alongside her husband as she joined him on countless trips while he lectured internationally. Through every adventure, she provided him with love and encouragement, embodying the spirit of companionship. She recognized the value and uniqueness of every person she encountered, approaching life with compassion and patience— even in the face of loss and adversity. Her strength and grace, rooted in her gritty Lutheran Norwegian heritage, modeled perseverance for her family.

A lover of the arts, Anita found joy in opera and symphony music, and she made it a daily ritual to stay informed about the world by reading the newspaper and many other sources of information. She was an avid Mariners baseball fan, delighting in the thrill of a winning season and sharing in the disappointment of a season slipping away. Additionally, she was one of the early supporters of the Kraken hockey team, cheering on the young franchise with enthusiasm.

Anita had a passion for painting and also loved spending time walking along the Northwest beaches in search of agates. Her love for dogs was evident, as they brought her much happiness.

Admired for her culinary skills, Anita was a wonderful cook, with her pies being second to none— except for those made by her mother and grandmother before her. Holidays were always a bountiful treat, bringing the family together for her lovingly prepared meals.

Anita's legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support will forever be cherished by her family and friends. She leaves behind a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Those who were just meeting her or those who knew her well described her as lovely. She was a lovely person and will be missed deeply, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Anita was preceded in death by her husband Earl Davie; her brother Arthur Galen Roe; her daughter Karen Davie; and her grandson Calvin Davie. She is survived by her sons Jim Davie (Becky) and John Davie (Aurora); daughter Marilyn Davie; granddaughters Lillian Ralstin (Rob), Jane Davie, and Bella Davie; great-granddaughters Stevie and Quinn Ralstin; great-grandson Jack Ralstin; and her wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousin.

The funeral will be held at Flintoft's Funeral Home in Issaquah, WA at 11:00 on September 30th, followed by a graveside service at the Alder Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send any gifts of remembrance to Eatonville Dollars for Scholars, PO Box 1155 Eatonville, Washington, 98328. This fund provides an annual Honor Cup scholarship to a graduate of Eatonville High School.
