Arthur enlisted in the US Navy on February 14, 1951. On February 15, 1954, he married Ruth Smoot. He served as an elder of this church, helped with constructing the current sanctuary, and sang (often loudly) in the choir. He retired from Boeing, where he had contributed to projects like the B2.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Earl (Rosanna) and Dorothy (Andrew); his wife Ruth; daughter Evonne; and his great-grandson Johnathan.
