WA - Barbara Joan (McDonald) Prescott, age 95, passed away in her home on January 1, 2026.
She was born in Seattle, Washington on April 13, 1930 to Charles (Fred) and Amy McDonald. She was raised with her identical twin sister Bonnie in the Rainer Valley area of Seattle, attending Franklin High School where she and sister Bonnie played in the school band. Following graduation from high school, Barbara enrolled at the University of Washington where she earned a bachelor's degree in Education. At Washington she was a member, and served as chapter president, of the Tri Delta Sorority.
In 1952, she married her college sweetheart Loren D. Prescott. After living for a short time in Spokane where Loren began his law practice, they returned to the Seattle area and made their home on Mercer Island.
Barbara spent much of her time with her family on San Juan Island at a small home they built at Cape San Juan in the mid-sixties. She and Loren were also actively involved in skiing and ski instruction. Every weekend was spent at Snoqualmie Summit where both taught for the Fiorini Ski School. Later years gave Barbara the opportunity to pursue her interest in gardening. In pursuit of that interest, she earned certification from Washington State University as a Master Gardener.
Barbara is survived by her twin sister Bonnie Riach; her children Loren, Jr. (Chip, and his wife Nancy, of Mountain Top, PA) and Brian (of Hailey, ID); three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Loren; her daughter Jennifer L. Prescott; her brother Fred; and her parents Fred and Amy McDonald.
