Washington - On a cold snowy January night, Barbara A'Dell Allen was born at home in Pateros, WA, to parents E. O. Allen and Agnes Mae Allen. There was so much snow they could not make it to a hospital in Wenatchee, WA. The family moved to Wenatchee two years later. Barbara attended local schools, graduating from Wenatchee High School, in 1945. She attended WSC(U) and was a member of Pi Beta Phi.
In 1947, she married Frank Conway, and they lived in Seattle and San Francisco. In 1954, she returned to Wenatchee, where she worked for Alcoa (1954-68) and Gwin White and Prince (1968-84). In February of 1984, she married Peter Schneller, a retired Seattle educator. They made their home in Seattle's Green Lake neighborhood, until Peter's death in January 2002.
Barbara was a member of St. Benedict and St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Churches in Seattle. In 2016, she returned to the Wenatchee Valley to be close to her niece Ann VanDusen. She resided at Bonaventure Senior Living East Wenatchee. She was a member of Holy Apostles Catholic Church, East Wenatchee. After a fall in 2023, she moved to Caring at Cordell in Wenatchee, WA, where she died peacefully on the afternoon of May 19, 2024, at 97 years of age.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Becky Nicholson (Jim), toddler brother, Junior; and husband, Peter Schneller. She is survived by her niece, Ann VanDusen (husband, Ed) of Wenatchee, WA; great-nephews: Chris and Allen Koch of Bellingham, WA; great-niece, Rachel Nicholson Booher (husband, Stephen Booher and beloved great-great nephew, Simon) of Leavenworth, WA; stepdaughters: Patty Schneller of Hawaii, and Sharon Henry of Taos, NM, and their families.
She loved Green Lake, Lake Wenatchee, Lake Woebegone and her Catholic Faith.
Her family would tike to thank the entire staff of Caring at Cordell, in Wenatchee, and the doctors and nurses of Confluence Hospice Care for their compassionate, loving care of 'Auntie Barbara."
