Barry Lafferty Obituary
Washington - Barry Lafferty, a lifelong Ballard resident, beloved father, grandfather, and respected pharmacist, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, at the age of 93.
Born to Carol and Ben Lafferty, Barry grew up in Blue Ridge, Seattle, and attended Ballard High School. He followed his father into pharmacy, opening Barry Lafferty's Pharmacy in 1961. In 1978, he began creating emergency medical kits for the Ballard fishing community, a business that continues today as Lafferty's EMS under his son Michael.
Barry enjoyed dirt bikes, boating, salmon fishing, woodworking, and entertaining friends and family. He was a generous, kind, and humorous man, devoted to his community through the Masonic Order, Nile Country Club, Jesters, and the Ballard Hospital Foundation.
He is survived by his children Patricia Lafferty Thomas and Michael Lafferty, and eleven grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine Lafferty, daughter Pamala Lafferty Akerstrom, brother Armin Lafferty, and his sister Joann Vulliet.
Barry's warmth and generosity touched all who knew him. His favorite saying:
"You know what I like about you... everything!"
God bless Barry Lafferty.
