WA - Beatrice "Beatty" Ellis passed away February 13th, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.
Beatty was born May 4, 1960 in Philadelphia, PA to David Melech Ellis and Adrienne Sacks Ellis. She graduated from the University of Michigan, earned her Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota, and treasured her 30 years helping others as a practicing clinical psychologist in Seattle.
Beatty loved the beach, hiking, swimming, exploring, crochet, and spending time with family and friends. She had an insatiable appetite for books, crosswords, and logic puzzles.
Beatty had a special bond with the earth and plants. She loved gardening and plant propagation. It was her wish that her body be transformed back into earth through a natural process shepherded by the Recompose green funeral home of Seattle.
Beatty is survived by her husband of 26 years, Charles Traynor and their child Adrien Traynor; brother Manie (Ruth) Ellis of Simi Valley, CA, sister Miriam Frederick of Eagleville PA; nephews Logan Ellis and Matthew Frederick, nieces Kristen (Shaun) Leonard and Kimberly (Matt) Benfield; uncle Steven (Peggy) Sacks of Philadelphia, PA, uncle Russell (Sugie) Ellis of Jerusalem, Israel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Page Ahead, the ACLU, The Guardian, or an environmental group of your choice.
A celebration of life will be held for Beatty's family and friends this spring.
