Born December 6, 1946, in Springfield, Illinois, Bryan was the son of Gray Brewer and Mildred Pierce. He completed post-graduate work at Ohio State University before serving as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. While stationed in Bremerton, WA, in 1970, he fell in love with the Pacific Northwest, a connection that would shape the rest of his life.
A resident of Seattle for over 50 years, he became a respected consultant, educator, and advisor to hundreds of early-stage companies. Known for his sharp intellect and generous mentorship, he inspired many through his work and teaching.
A man of wide-ranging interests, Bryan was passionate about science, mathematics, geography, history, and psychology, and he occasionally wrote poetry. He was the author of four editions of ECLIPSE, reflecting his curiosity and creativity. He found meaningful community with Seattle Ecstatic Dance. Away from the city, he experienced peace in nature— especially at the log house he built with his first wife, Molly, near Mount Rainier.
Bryan is survived by his wife, Diana Wiley; his sons, Devin and Matthew Brewer; his grandson, Logan; and former wife, Molly Brewer. He will be remembered for his keen mind, generous heart, and the joy he brought to all who knew him. Donations in his memory may be made to your local food bank.
