Carol Helen Brandt Obituary

Washington - Long time Des Moines resident, Carol Helen Brandt, died on November 19th, 2025. Carol joined the loving family of Ellery and Helen Brandt (Des Moines) in March 1945. It was not long after that she enjoyed the company of two little sisters. Carol was a dedicated student, graduating from UPS in math education. She taught at Truman Junior High School for two years before moving to Connecticut where she taught for one year. She returned to the Des Moines area where she taught at Highline High School, Chinook Junior High, and Mt. Rainier High School. She served as president of the Highline School District Teacher's Association for several years.

Carol loved animals, especially her dog Mamie and her cat Pearl. She retired at an early age to enjoy her friends, the theater, fine dining and fun get togethers.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings (Karen Turner and Adrienne Hull), and her stepmother (Mary Brandt). She is survived by her stepsister and husband (Jody and Bob Scheffelmaier), their children, and most importantly her very good friend, Jemmie Wear. She was a kind, loving, and generous person who left the world she touched a better place then she found it. A memorial service will be held in Spring or early Summer, 2026, at Saltwater State Park per Carol's request.
