Carol Fleagle Obituary
Carol Fleagle was born as Carol Lybarger on March 22, 1946. She was born and raised in Seattle. She married Robert Fleagle on Sept 27, 1969 and they lived in the Seattle area. They had two children: Laura, born in 1976 and David, born in 1979 who passed away in 2007. She died on March 2, 2026. She is survived by her daughter Laura Fleagle and her husband Robert.
She had a long spiritual journey, from childhood Christianity to atheism, to Unitarianism, to the Unity Church, to an organization called the Essenes after an ancient Jewish sect, and finally back to Christianity in the United Church of Christ, and she learned from every step. She was always a very spiritual person, even in her atheist days. Angels were important to her beliefs, and she often saw evidence of their work in her life. Her faith was manifest in her choice of words. She referred to own death as "When I go to meet Jesus". She named her cat 'Faith' and devoted considerable energy to figuring out clever ways to further pamper the world's most pampered feline.
Children were central to her life. Her own and others. She once stopped a child running with scissors. When somebody said "he's not your child", she replied "they're all my children", and she meant it. She spent many years as a nanny, raising two fine children from babyhood to adulthood and caring for many more. In 2002 the Seattle Times featured a half-page article titled "Midnight Mom" about her volunteer work with Street Links, an organization that ran a nightly van to aid homeless kids in Seattle.
Her memorial service is on Saturday, April 11 at 2:00 PM at the University Congregational United Church of Christ.
