Caroline Jane Bakketun Obituary

Washington - Caroline Jane Bakketun, age 100, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2022. She was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on May 30, 1921, the second of three daughters born to Oswald and Theresa Crummack. In 1936, the family moved west in a Ford Model T and settled in Seattle. Caroline graduated from Garfield High School in 1939. She married Joseph Bakketun in 1943.

Joe and Caroline enjoyed travelling, including trips to Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. They shared a love of golf and of the many hours spent with friends on the course. Throughout their life together, Joe and Caroline enjoyed hosting friends and family in the homes they built in Sheridan Beach (Lake Forest Park) and Anderson Island overlooking south Puget Sound. Caroline lived in their Sheridan Beach home for over 70 years.

Caroline was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, and her sisters, Rosemary and Mae. She is survived by her son, Joe Jr., granddaughters, Nina and Elise, and great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Violet. The Bakketun family is grateful for the care and compassion Caroline received from the staff at The Legacy of Bothell. A private family gathering will be held at the Anderson Island Cemetery later this spring.
