Christopher Tyrrell Browne (Chris) Obituary

Christopher Tyrrell Browne passed away last month at the age of 64, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a beloved father, husband, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

Chris was born in 1960 in Seattle, Washington. Growing up, his family moved frequently throughout the Pacific Northwest, with stints in Seattle, Portland, Medford, Richmond, BC, and Kirkland. After graduating from Juanita High School in 1978, he attended the University of Washington where he was a proud member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. During his time there, he enjoyed cranking classic rock through his Phase Linear stereo system with his friends and at house social events. He continued to share his love of music throughout his life.

After graduating from the UW with a bachelor's degree in economics, Chris began what would become a 41-year career at Pemco Insurance Company. Along the way, he earned his CPCU professional insurance designation, enjoying a long association with the organization. He retired earlier this year as Pemco's Senior Contracts Manager. At Pemco, he was known for his hard work, leadership, and dedication.

A lifelong sporting enthusiast, Chris was a star baseball pitcher in his youth and played in men's and co-ed soccer leagues for many years. He was a dedicated coach for all his boys in soccer and baseball. Chris was an avid Husky Football fan, and also followed UW men's rowing and USA men's rowing. One of his last goals was to travel to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, where he cheered with pride as the Team USA Men's 8+ took home the bronze medal with his stepson Rielly Milne as the coxswain.

More than anything, Chris was a devoted friend, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. Chris is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie Mulvey, his sons Kevin Browne (Amanda), Ryan Browne (Kailey), stepson Rielly Milne, grandsons Harrison and Henry Browne, sister Diana Hancock (Chuck), sister Kate Hokanson, and nieces and nephews Andrew and William Duenkel, Jacob Mulvey-Stone, Jensen and Avery Mulvey, and Maya and Calvin Williams.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Boys in the Boat Endowment Fund for Men's Rowing (tinyurl.com/UW-Rowing-Donate) and the Evergreen Health Foundation (EvergreenHealthFoundation.com).
