Anacortes, Washington - Chris LeSourd was born in Seattle to Francis A. and Burgess Roberts LeSourd. He grew up hiking and skiing in the Cascades and sailing on Lake Washington and Puget Sound. Chris also enjoyed boating and playing sports. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and Cornell University.
Chris worked for over fifty years in the restaurant and hospitality industry. He graduated from Cornell's School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration (Phi Gamma Delta fraternity), and later studied accounting at the University of Miami in Florida, attaining his CPA. His passion for hospitality work began with his first restaurant job at age sixteen.
While in Miami, Chris became Vice President of Operations and Vice President of Finance for Lum's Restaurant Corporation, a national chain. Later, back in Seattle, he served as Vice President of Franchises, Executive Vice President and then President of Skipper's, Inc., a major west coast seafood restaurant chain. He also had a long association with the accounting firm of Laventhol & Horwath. Chris operated a successful consulting practice for many years, focusing on franchising, management, operational and financial analysis for the restaurant and hospitality industry.
Chris was an avid lifelong reader and enjoyed movies and cooking. Later in life Chris enjoyed family cruises abroad, as well as sailing the family sailboat, The Fugitive, in British Columbia's Desolation Sound. Chris and his family had a tradition of spending the winter season skiing at Crystal Mountain Resort, creating many memories. Chris was devoted to his children's sports activities and coached basketball.
Chris is survived by his wife, Ruth, of 43 years, and his children Michelle LeSourd and partner Cindy Jatul, John LeSourd, Jennifer LeSourd and partner Heather Ryan, Frances LeSourd-Dewing and son-in-law Nick Dewing, and Margaux LeSourd-Erler and son-in-law Tom Erler, and his brother, Peter LeSourd. His daughter Krista Haverly-Moody was deceased at the time of Chris' passing. Chris was a loving grandfather and proud of his eight grandchildren: Brenevan, Nicholas, Elijah, Sidney, Carolyn, Ellen, Tyson and Io.
Chris and Ruth spent their final years together on Fidalgo Island, near Anacortes, WA, surrounded by trees, water and wildlife.
Chris had a big personality, was a great listener and conversationalist, and touched many people over the years. His family and friends will miss his booming voice, his bright smile and welcoming hug, and his stories.
