Corinne Zamberlin Obituary
Washington - Corinne Zamberlin passed away peacefully March 18th, surrounded by her family and the music she loved.
Corinne was born July 19, 1929 in Seattle, Washington to Margaret and John Ford, the eldest of four children. She grew up in Wallingford with siblings Peggy, Donald and Patty, went to St. Benedict School and attended Holy Angels Catholic High School. She remained close friends with classmates her entire life. As a sophomore, Corinne was swept off her feet at an All-City Catholic High School dance by the O'Dea man of her dreams, George Zamberlin. After graduating in 1947, Corinne worked at the telephone company for nine years until she had children.
Corinne and George were married after George returned from the Korean War in August of 1953. They were a team, at each other's side through thick and thin for 59 years until George passed in 2012. Along with their three children, Kathy, Nancy and Steve, they raised their nephew Walt and niece Mary Kay as their own. After the kids were grown, Corinne worked various jobs, all utilizing her artistic talent and attention to detail.
Corinne was very athletic and known for beating all comers in the All-City Knights of Columbus foot races. Her competitive spirit never waned and she took pride in continuing to play an excellent game of golf as a "Jackson Jill" well into her later years. Corinne and George shared this love of golf. Corinne was an enthusiastic sports fan and rarely missed a game or activity in which her children or grandchildren participated.
Corinne and George were active members of St. John and St. Luke parishes where they brought communion to the homebound, made a thousand sandwiches weekly for the homeless, and put on many dances and dinners. Corinne was the ultimate volunteer. As a Scout leader, volleyball coach, sacristan or Mothers Club member and more, Corinne always made sure things were done well and looked lovely. As a member of her beloved Catholic Childhood group for over 50 years, she helped provide for children and families in need in Western Washington. Finally, Corinne's generous gift of her time and talent was witnessed every Sunday for decades as she filled St. Luke Church with her beautiful flower arrangements.
Corinne loved people. She always made time to stop and talk, and made everyone feel special. Corinne was a great entertainer, a sharp dresser and a lot of fun. But most of all, she was a great mom, grandma and friend. Faith, family and friends meant the world to her.
We will miss you Mom.
Corinne is survived by her children; Kathy (Carroll), Nancy (Scott), Steve (Angie), and her wonderful grandchildren; Brian (Allison), Peter, Molly, Daniel, Patrick, Austin and Tyler.
Rosary; Sunday, April 2nd 4 pm. Funeral Mass; Monday, April 3rd 11 am. (Both at St. Luke Church, Shoreline, WA). Lunch reception immediately following at Innis Arden Clubhouse. Burial; Tuesday, April 4th 10 am. Holyrood Cemetery.
Donations may be made to St. Luke Parish or the Catholic Childhood Association in Corinne's name.
