Cynthia Valenta (Cindy) Obituary

Cynthia S. Valenta, née Clark died on November 19, 2024, at the age of 79, with her family by her side. Cynthia was born on December 29th, 1944, in Neodesha, Kansas to William and Norma Clark.

Cynthia grew up in California and graduated from McKinleyville High School in 1963. In high school she was a cheerleader, a song queen, and most importantly, she made lifelong friendships that she cherished. Cynthia attended Humboldt State University and then moved to San Francisco to work for Pacific Airlines. There she met Joseph Valenta, a handsome young navy man. They had a lot of fun dating and married in 1967. Cindy and Joe moved to Boston while Joe attended graduate school. Joe then began his career at United Airlines, and this marked the beginning of many travel adventures for the happy couple.

Cindy and Joe moved back to the San Francisco area and welcomed their daughter Jennifer. A move to Chicago followed, along with the birth of their daughter Lauren. In 1980 the family moved to Minnesota and Cindy flourished in the neighborhood community of Burl Oaks, becoming an excellent hostess and making several amazing friends. The family moved to Mercer Island, WA in 1987 and in a new phase of life, Cindy worked at Egghead Software, Catapult and VSP providing excellent customer service. There were additional moves to California and Oregon before settling in the Everett, WA area to be near her grandchildren.

Throughout her adult years Cindy loved to travel and took many trips and cruises with Joe and her close friends. She was always either planning her next trip or returning from one and showing you the beautiful gifts and souvenirs she'd bought for you.

Cindy was a terrific mother who cared deeply for her children. While the girls were growing up, Cindy led by example. Once the girls were grown, she was their number one cheerleader, supporting her daughters in all that they did. Cindy loved her grandchildren dearly and she truly was an exceptional grandparent. She made everything special for her grandchildren and developed strong relationships with both. We all miss her so much!

The Clark family was especially important to Cindy, and we can't write this without mentioning how much her sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews meant to her. She kept the Clark family connected through the generations.

She was predeceased by her parents; sister (Datha Pease) and brothers (Larry Clark, David Clark and Kenny Clark). She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Joseph Valenta; her daughters Jennifer Valenta (Brad Aungst) and Lauren Valenta (Joel Kulp); grandchildren (Orion and Addison Aungst); her sister Billie Gail Halliday; and her loyal 20-year-old cat, Tucker.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
