Washington - Producer David H. DePatie of Gig Harbor, Washington died September 23, 2021, of natural causes. He founded, along with partner Friz Freleng, DePatie-Freleng Enterprises, best known for the Academy Award winning animated character The Pink Panther. Originally created as the main title for Blake Edwards' movie 'The Pink Panther,' the character proved immensely popular and in association with The Mirisch Company and United Artists resulted in the production of 124 six minute cartoons between 1963 and 1978. In addition to The Pink Panther, DFE Enterprises was one of the first suppliers for network television's Saturday morning children's programming era of the 1960's through 1980's, as well as numerous TV commercials and specials including Dr. Seuss, ABC's After School Specials, Charlie Tuna for Star Kist (1963-1985) and the Emmy Award winning 'My Mom's Having A Baby.' He was 91 years old.
