David Iliff Strahan Obituary

WA - A life well lived. David Strahan passed away peacefully on January 16, just short of his 93rd birthday. He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Sylvia; and their three daughters, Jeanette (Rafael) Villagran, Ramona Strahan, and Shar (Larry) Bristol; and by their two granddaughters, Dr. Alexandra (Alex Alexander) Villagran, and Gabrielle (Christian) Lux.

David will be remembered by his family and friends as a humble and faithful man, a loving husband, and a patient and generous father, father-in-law and grandfather. David was born in Seattle on February 16, 1933. He traveled extensively in his youth along with his parents, as his father served in the U.S. Navy. Just prior to World War II his family lived in Saigon for nearly 3 years and barely escaped when Japan attacked. David himself enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952; he served as an Airborne Radar Repairman during the Korean War and earned the Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. David married Sylvia (Bleickhardt) in 1961, and they settled down and raised their family in Renton. David enjoyed many hobbies, including researching WWII history and family genealogy, but Ham Radio was his favorite. From his basement office, relying on antennas he installed on his home's roof and atop nearby trees, he reached over 150 countries.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at New Life Church, located at 15711 152nd Ave SE, Renton, WA 98058. You may contact the family at dstrahan92.family@gmail.com, and comments are welcome on the Guestbook tab above on this page.
