David Lee Williams Obituary

Seattle, WA - Born in Seattle in 1931, Dave's lifelong passions were boating, gardening, singing, history and, of course, his friends and family.


Dave was a tireless volunteer, notably for the Seattle Yacht Club (Secretary and Judge Advocate), Museum of History and Industry (22 years on the board), Recreational Boaters of Washington (President and Board Member).

Educated at the University of Washington, he earned degrees in Psychology and Law, serving as an Army officer between his bachelor and JD degrees.


He leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years Mary Ashley Williams; daughter Betsy Johnson (Brian Johnson), son Paul Williams (Anthony McGrann); and grandchildren Erica, Mark, Cora, and Heidi Johnson. Also, nieces and nephews Leroy Read, Charles Read, Kara Read, Kathy Calhoun-Damon, Barbara Calhoun, and Scott Calhoun.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents David J. Williams and Zelma Conway Williams along with his sister Diane.


A celebration of life will be held at the Seattle Yacht Club on Sunday, July 20 at 1:00 PM.
