WA - Donald E. Chase, 88, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and respected community leader, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025 after a brief battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Born May 4, 1937, in Portland, OR, Don grew up in Everett and Mukilteo and graduated from Everett High School before earning a degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington. He built a distinguished career in commercial real estate financing, beginning at Seattle First National Bank, where he met the love of his life, Donna. Over the years, Don played a pivotal role in financing landmark projects such as the first Costco and the Kingdome, as well as numerous office developments across the region.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Don was deeply committed to service. He served in the Coast Guard and later the Auxiliary Coast Guard, and contributed to civic life through the Everett Planning Commission and Kitsap County Housing Authority. A passionate advocate for affordable housing, he worked tirelessly to preserve opportunities for low-income families, often traveling to Washington, D.C., to champion revitalization initiatives.
Don's adventurous spirit was evident throughout his life. From childhood boating excursions on the Puget Sound to family trips across the country and visits to national parks, he instilled in his children and grandchildren a love of exploration, nature, and togetherness.
Above all, Don was a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Donna; children Todd, Christopher, Leann (Marc), and Lori (Jared); and grandchildren Lilly, Chase, Cole, Emma, and Alexa. He will be remembered for his wisdom, generosity, and unwavering dedication to family and community.
