Seattle, WA - Elaine Nonneman, lifelong activist and feminist social justice philanthropist, grew up in Cleveland and spent most of her life in Seattle. She first got involved in social justice philanthropy by joining A Territory Resource (now the Social Justice Fund NW). Elaine created the Channel Foundation in 1998 to advance women's rights. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Central Co-Op, was a member of the Center for Women & Democracy and the Women Donor's Network, and supported sustainable, community-centered development initiatives like the Julia Place Apartments.
