Emogene (Geney) D. Cowgill was born Emogene Donehue on June 20, 1937 in Murdo, SD. She passed away on October 1, 2024, in Tucson, AZ. Geney was 87.
Geney was a Catholic Sister for over 12 years before leaving the convent and meeting and marrying the love of her life, Paul. She was a schoolteacher at St. Louise Catholic School for over 12 years and then went on to demonstrate emergency life saving for the American Red Cross. After her husband Paul passed, Geney moved to Tucson, AZ where for four years she was surrounded by her loving family and many friends who visited frequently. Geney was a wonderful hostess to all who visited her.
Geney was predeceased by her husband Paul N. Cowgill and four loving siblings. Geney was immeasurably loved and is missed by her nieces and nephews Michael Donehue, Sandra Battin, Jamelle Swanson, Claudia Corona, Patrick Donehue, Randall Smith, Shawn Trobia and Tiiu Austin, her many grandnieces and grandnephews, and godchildren Kathleen Barker and Margaret Marshall, as well as her many dear and close friends.
Many people of all ages benefited from Geney's guidance, advice, mentoring, teaching, friendship and her generous gifts of ever-present humor and love.
The Funeral Mass will be held December 5, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Louise Catholic Church in Bellevue.
In lieu of flowers, and in recognition of the love that Geney had for children, donations to Advocacy & Caring for Children (ACC) are appreciated.
