WA - Ethel passed away peacefully at the age of 85.
A Rosary will take place at 10:00 am and Funeral Mass 11:00 am, followed by a reception on Wed., Nov. 5, 2025, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 814 NE 85th St., Seattle. A burial will take place at 2:30 pm at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery, 205 NE 205th St., Shoreline. All are welcome.
Born in Chicago to Matthew and Margaret (Nelson) Moskal, Ethel was gentle by nature and strong in spirit. At 19 she married her first love and best friend, Harold F. Shea Jr. Inseparable for 66 years they raised 1 daughter and 5 sons.
She brought humor and warmth to every room, cheered loudly at countless games for her children and grandchildren, and patiently rooted for the Mariners as a season-ticket holder since their inaugural year.
For nearly 6 decades, Ethel worked, volunteered and supported the Catholic Church and Catholic education serving St. Catherine's as Religious Education Cord., Eucharistic Minister and lector; guiding families through Baptism, First Communion, Reconciliation and Confirmation; welcoming adults into the Church; and founding a Moms' Group that built community.
With Harold, she supported Holy Names Academy (Seattle, '58), St. John's (MA), St. Catherine's and many charities.
She enjoyed cruises & travel throughout the U.S. and abroad to visit family and those she found through her love of genealogy.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold Jr.; son Daniel; siblings Phillip & Robert; and several beloved in-laws.
Survived by siblings Harry & Phyllis; in-laws Anne, Gerry and Rita, Peggy and George; children Erin (Carlos) Angulo Shea, Michael (Sandy), Patrick (Amy), Timothy (Janet), Harold III (Michelle) and daughter-in-law Teresa; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and many dear nieces and nephews.
