Fern Sandell Lockhart Obituary

Bryn Mawr-Skyway, Washington - Born on February 9, 1927, died at the age of 94 on June 23, 2021 following a stroke. Fern lived the first sixteen years of her life in rural South Dakota, then traveled to Seattle by train when her parents came in search of wartime jobs. It was here she met the love of her life, John Lockhart. They were married in 1948 and had a beautiful marriage of 65 years. Fern was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother.

Throughout her life, Fern gave much of her time as a volunteer with PTA, churches, Children's Home Society. She enjoyed her mid-life career with United Airlines, followed by a long and full retirement with John, traveling the world, motorhome adventures, and actively participating in their communities at The River Mobile Home Village and Boulevard Park Place. Fern was renowned for her baking, especially cookies. She was kind, gentle, and very proud of her Swedish 'determination.'

Predeceased by her husband John and son Jay. Her son Randy followed her in death two weeks later. Survived by daughter Donna Slade (Cliff), daughter-in-law Kathy Lockhart; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

There will be no public service. Memorials may be made to Seattle Children's Hospital.
