Fr. Raymond John Palmer Finerty, OP, 79, of Seattle, died Friday, June 21, 2024.
Fr. Raymond gave his life to minister to the Lord and his sheepfold in the Dominican Order. He was born in Oakland and raised in Vallejo, CA where he attended Saint Vincent Ferrer elementary and high school under the tutelage of the Dominicans. He studied at the University of San Francisco and St. Albert College. He entered the Dominican Order in 1965 and was ordained a priest December 17, 1971. His ministry at parishes and Newman Centers ranged from Southern California to Ashland to Riverside to Seattle. He was very proud of working on the committee which led to the United States Council of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) document on campus ministry: Empowered by the Spirit.
He is survived by his brothers, Lee (Claudia) and Patrick (Mary); their five children, Patrick Jr., Sean, Kevin, Maureen, and Kerry; his aunt, Helene Allbritton; cousins, Pam Bakotich and Sr. Susan Allbritton, O.P.; collectively, 9 grand-nieces and nephews; and 1 great- grandnephew.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Exa Finerty.

A Vigil Service will be held on Monday, July 1st at 7:30pm
A Funeral Mass will follow on Tuesday, July 2nd at 10am both at
St. Dominic Catholic Church

Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Tuesday, July 2nd at 6:30pm followed by a Memorial Mass at 7:00pm at
