Frederick S. Hoedemaker M.D. (Fritz) Obituary

WA - Frederick (Fritz) S. Hoedemaker passed away in Seattle after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gloria (Suzie) Canlis Hoedemaker; his daughter Karen (Ed Hogan), son Peter (Cathy Giles), and daughter Gretchen (Danny McKay); along with seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and his twin brother David Hoedemaker of Seattle.

Dr. Hoedemaker practiced psychiatry and psychoanalysis in Bellevue for 33 years. He loved working with his patients and he loved teaching, first as Ward Psychiatrist and Assistant Clinical Professor at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute in Los Angeles, and later at the University of Washington and the Seattle Psychoanalytic Institute.

After his retirement, he and Suzie spent summers and winters in Sun Valley, Idaho enjoying many adventures with family and friends.

He left us this poem (in part): "The important parts of me will hopefully be found in the memories of my children and grandchildren, nourishing them as memories of my parents nourished me, and that they will take from me the best parts: love of people, love of learning."

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Donations may be made to the NW Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
