Getrude was born April 1, 1921, in Schwenksville, PA to Pharus Jacob Schock and Alice Neidig Schock. She grew up in nearby Pottstown, PA. After graduation she earned her first degree from Kutztown State Teachers College and later a Master of Library Science from Columbia University. Having never been to the West Coast, Gertrude accepted a job with the Sno-Isle Regional Library System and moved to Everett, Washington in 1951. She met and married her husband Ted, who affectionately called her Trudy. They built their forever home in Bothell where she served her community and church for decades, sharing her love of reading, travel, and nature with all who knew her. Trudy is survived by her son Robert and his wife Petra of Bothell; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and close friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 18 at 1 p.m. at First Lutheran Church Bothell, 10207 NE 183rd St., Bothell, WA 98011.
