WA - Gertrude Lavina Endicott died peacefully on the evening of March 1, 2024 surrounded by two of her daughters, her oldest granddaughter, and the amazing caregivers at Ashford Senior Living. Gert was born to Raymond and Alice Clough on May 4, 1933 at her grandmother's home in Ypsilanti, Michigan as the youngest of three daughters. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Ypsilanti, earned her Bachelor's Degree at the University of Michigan, and went on to complete Nursing School at Grace Hospital in Detroit.
Gert married Thomas McManus in 1955 and they raised three daughters, Patricia, Colleen, and Kimberly. In 1961, the family moved to Seattle where Gert worked as an RN at Northwest Hospital in the Emergency Room and in Nursing Administration. In 1990, she married her best friend, Raymond Endicott, and they moved to the Big Island of Hawaii to enjoy retirement. As they grew older, they moved back to Seattle to be near her children and grandchildren.
Gert was very active in the Republican party while she lived in Hawaii and was a delegate at the 1992 Republican National Convention.
Gert was preceded in death by her husbands; parents; and sisters, Jean (Sig) Safran and Dorothy (Bernard) Harrison; also, her son-in-law, James Wilkowski.
She is survived by her daughters, Pat (Bill Jandl), Colleen McManus, and Kim Wilkowski; as well as her four grandchildren, Rachel (Ravi Narain) and Benjamin Wilkowski, Valerie and Paul Jandl, and her great grandson, Wade Wilkowski. She is also survived by her nephews, Michael and Robert Harrison, Joseph Safran, and a niece, Devora Safran, along with many cousins.
Gert and Ray's ashes were spread on August 5th, 2025 in the beautiful waters of the Pacific Ocean below their cherished home in Keauhou on the Big Island.
