"Hank" passed away peacefully in Bothell, WA on March 22, 2023. He was 74.
Hank was beloved, respected and admired by friends, family and colleagues. Known for his warmth, compassion and integrity, he always had a boyish sense of humor that put everyone at ease. Hank was born in Sandusky, Ohio, the fourth child of Monroe Frank Snider and Betty Bedell Snider. He grew up in Bay Village, Ohio where he was an altar boy at St. Barnabas, Episcopal Church. He graduated high school from University School in Shaker Heights, Ohio, then earned a B.A. in history & a Master's Degree in business from Stanford University. Hank was a catcher (and outfielder) for the Stanford Varsity Baseball team throughout his college career.
Hank worked for Adidas in Landersheim, France before a career with Coca Cola for 13 years. Moving to Seattle in 1990, Hank bought The Bagel Deli on Capitol Hill and ran it for six years with his brother-in-law, Dale Jones.
In 2001 Hank earned a second Masters Degree in teaching from Seattle University and taught 5th & 6th grades for 10 years at Thoreau Elementary in Kirkland, WA until his retirement in 2011.
Hank volunteered at Eastside Foursquare Church in the Sunday School for children, stuffed newspapers for Prisoners for Christ and fed homeless kids at New Horizons in Seattle. He participated in Community Bible Study for 12 years. In all of his activities, Hank dedicated himself to loving others.
Hank is survived by his loving wife, Marianneke Tellekamp Snider, and his brothers and sisters, Susan Snider, Fritz Snider, Anne Ryun, Cate Miller, Teeny Jones, and Tom Snider. He will truly be missed by all.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023, 7:00 PM at the Chapel of the Resurrection Funeral Home, 16300 - 112th Ave NE, Bothell, WA 98011
