WA - Hollis "Skeeter" Arvin Edinger beloved husband, dad, and all-around cool guy passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025 in Kenmore, WA. He was born December 13, 1936 in Yakima, WA to Selmer and Norma (Kevan) Edinger. His family later moved to Ballard, where he made many lifelong friends. Hollis attended Ballard High School where he met Judy Engstrom in study hall. They married in 1957 and raised their family in Kenmore, WA.
Hollis gained his knowledge of road engineering as a young man while working for his family's business, Edinger Sand and Gravel. He was a proud 67-year member of the Local 302 International Union of Operating Engineers and worked on many large road construction projects in Washington and Alaska. Hollis was a member of The Sons of the American Revolution, The Mayflower Society, and The Lakeshore Garden Club. He had lifelong interests in airplanes, cars, history, wood carving, coffee and pie with friends, and fishing. A fishing highlight for Hollis was winning first prize in the 1975 Seattle Seafair Salmon Derby with a 54-pound king salmon.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Judy; children Lisa (David) Young, Brent (Tina) Edinger, and Mia (Jeff) Boster; grandchildren Matt Shelly, Danielle Perry, and Sam Edinger; six great grandchildren; and siblings Glen Edinger, Sharon Taylor, Carol Pearson, Kevin Edinger, and Jeff Edinger.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Remembrances of Hollis can be made to a charity of your choice.
