Irene L. Vitulli Obituary

Irene L. Vitulli passed away on December 11, 2022, at the age of 93, surrounded by her family.

Irene was born in Seattle on November 29, 1929, to Salvatore and Gasperina DiMaio. She was one of three siblings, Rowland DiMaio (sister-in-law Kay DiMaio/Shea, Woodinville) and Linda Chapman, Seattle. Irene graduated from Ballard High School and attended the University of Washington. She met and married the love of her life Domenico (Dick) Vitulli, on August 25, 1951.

Dick and Irene built their home in Kenmore in 1956 where they happily resided for over 62 years. Irene was a stay-at-home mom, maintained a beautiful home and cared for her three children. Irene was greatly involved in her children's schools and activities, and lovingly hauled them to many sporting events and other extracurriculars. She was PTSA President at Inglemoor High School and received the district's Golden Acorn Award. Irene also dedicated time to a Children's Hospital Guild Group that was formed in 1953 with her Ballard High School friends.

Nona, as she was known to her grandkids and great grandkids, enjoyed working in the garden and raising beautiful flowers. There were countless family dinners and gatherings, at which she created wonderful meals. Her family will forever remember and carry on her delicious Italian recipes.

Dick and Irene enjoyed traveling together and explored many destinations in the United States and abroad.

Irene is survived by her loving husband of 71 years Dick Vitulli, her sons Darrel (Tracey) of Snohomish; Kevin (Jayne) of Wenatchee; daughter Darcy of Bothell; grandchildren: Anthony (Stevie) Vitulli, Kelley (Ryan) Hansen, and Nicholas Vitulli who preceded her to Heaven; four great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 11th at 11am at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church, 17856 NE Woodinville Duval Road, Woodinville WA 98077.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Seattle Children's Hospital.
