J. Miles Goodwin Obituary

J. Miles Goodwin, 76, of Mill Creek, WA passed away peacefully at home November 16, 2023 surrounded by family. He entered hospice care in September after announcing a lung cancer diagnosis. His final months were spent enjoying time with family and being gob smacked by the outpouring of love and support from friends and family. If love was a currency, Miles was rich beyond compare.

Miles was born December 18, 1946 to James Miles Goodwin, Sr. and Catherine Loughlin in Philadelphia, PA. The Goodwin family later moved to Dallas, TX. Miles attended Marquette University in Milwau-kee, WI where he met and married the love of his life Mary Jo. Married 53 years, they had three children -- Kate, Dan, and Susan; and three grandchildren James, Meredith and Calvin.

He will be interred at Tahoma National Cemetery on December 18. A celebration of life is planned for January 27 in Mill Creek, WA. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local NPR affiliate, one of Miles' favorite organizations to support.

He is survived by his wife, one son, two daughters, one sister, three grandchildren, and a loving extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, many dear friends and relatives, and his favorite dog Tex.
