Jack Rogers Obituary

WA - Jack Rogers, age 90, of Kirkland, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, surrounded by family.


John (Jack) Francis Rogers was born March 15, 1935 to Frank and Audrey Rogers of Richmond Beach. Jack attended Richmond Beach Elementary and Read Elementary, in Colorado. Jack graduated from Lincoln High School in 1953. After graduation, Jack spent two years in the Army, stationed in Europe. Upon his return, Jack attended Everett Community College and Seattle University. Jack met Connie Reeploeg and in 1960 they were married. They welcomed son John in 1961. In 1964, Jack earned his bachelor's degree in teaching from Seattle University.

Jack began his teaching career in the Renton School District in 1964. Jack taught junior high and high school English and History. In the spring of 1971, Jack met Diane Boyle on a blind date. Their blind date turned into romance and Jack and Diane were married in November of 1971. They welcomed daughter Kellie in 1972. Jack began his administrative career as assistant principal of Lindberg High School. In 1980, Jack and Diane welcomed their second daughter, Katie.


In 1982, Jack became Principal of Black River High School. In 1990, Jack was recognized as Educator of the Year. Jack served as principal of Black River High School until his retirement in 1995. Jack was also deeply involved in community service. He was a longtime member of the Renton Rotary Club, served as a school board member, and was president of the Renton Area Youth Service (RAYS) Bureau.


Upon retirement, Jack and Diane split their time between Kirkland and their second home in Arizona. They loved traveling together, watching baseball, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Jack and Diane were happily married for fifty one years!


In 2023, Jack reunited with childhood friend Virginia Hesler Bohannon. Jack and Virginia both grew up in Richmond Beach. They shared many interests, including teaching, reading, political discussions, and childhood memories. Jack and Virginia were married on July 17, 2024.


Jack had many hobbies. He loved to read, grow vegetable gardens, restore cars and shop for cars. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Jack was compassionate, driven, principled, and loving. Family was extremely important to both him and Diane. Keeping family connected and carrying on traditions were a hallmark of their relationship. Jack will be remembered as a loving husband, dedicated father, and amazing pappa.


We will remember his big smile, humor, and his generous heart.


Jack is survived by his wife, Virginia; John & Haley, Kellie & Gnat, Katie & Zach; and grandchildren Mia and Jackson. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Audrey; brothers Jerry & Paul; grandson Jeffrey, and wife, Diane.


A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Saturday, November 15th @ 12:00 at Maplewood Greens, 4050 Maple Valley Highway, Renton, Washington.
