Seattle - James Patrick Green, Jr. (Jim) died of heart failure at home on June 21, 2024. He was born in Spokane, WA when his father was serving in the Pacific. Eventually his parents relocated their growing family to Grand Coulee, WA, and later to Bridgeport, WA where Jim completed high school.
In 1965 Jim was graduated from Washington State University and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. He ultimately earned the rank of Captain. During his tour in Vietnam in 1968, he began a correspondence with Leonora Citrano, sister of his best friend. By 1971 he had swept her off her feet, they married, and moved to Seattle.
Jim began his 32-year career as an investigative agent for DEA, IRS, and then on special assignment to the Seattle U.S. Attorney's office. He later worked as an investigator for the Washington State Attorney General's office.
As an avid outdoorsman, Jim climbed all the major peaks of western Washington with the Mountaineers and kayaked in the Queen Charlotte Sound. At home he raised roses and maintained the greenest lawn on the block. He was also a voracious reader who lost himself in history, collecting hundreds of books over a lifetime. An armchair musicologist, he especially loved Beethoven. Finally, Jim believed you had a right to his opinion.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Jean Green; and his, sister Nancy E. Green.
He is survived by Leonora, his wife; son, Joe (Anita); daughter, Catherine Hanin (Cameron); grandchildren, Leo, Mae Rose, Vincent, and Francis; and siblings, Carolyn Torre, Shelley Dreyer-Green, and John Green.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 27th at 11:00am at
Our Lady of Fatima Church
3218 W. Barrett St., Seattle, WA 98199.
