Washington - Joan Colman Brown passed away suddenly but peacefully at the age of 92 on February 10, 2022. She was born in Portland, OR on June 6, 1929 and after several moves, finished her HS days at Stadium in Tacoma, where she met the love of her life, Richard (who was the youngest son of Harry Brown, founder of Brown and Haley Candy). They married in 1950, lived in Seattle for 25 years, then in Winthrop for 25 years, and finally Wenatchee before returning to Tacoma in 2009. They enjoyed 65 happy years of marriage before his passing in 2015. They are survived by the family they dearly loved, which included their three sons and spouses: Jim and Becky of Tacoma, Jeff and Alicia of Winthrop, and Paul and Janice of Seattle, along with 6 grandchildren and 3 spouses, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Joan will always be remembered lovingly by family and friends for her quick wit and humor. She always looked on the positive side of things, and she usually ended any conversation with a word of cheer and her delightful witty laugh. A signature statement she would often say in the midst of a disappointment or hardship was, "And besides that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?"

She was a classy lady and a gourmet cook, who loved serving her family and friends, and relished talking about and enjoying good food! She always had a compassionate heart for the homeless and the under-dog, loved everyone unconditionally, and her life was marked by kindness and generosity.

Although she shall be greatly missed, she ran her race well, with Joy, and is now happily at 'home' with her Lord. A memorial service will be held at University Place Presbyterian Church in Tacoma on Wednesday March 16th at 2:00pm.
