Joan Lee Israel passed away peacefully in Polson, Montana, at the age of 87. Born in Spokane, she was a longtime resident of Kirkland, where she worked at the Kirkland Post Office for over 20 years.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Claire VanDerhoef, and her brother, Robert VanDerhoef, with whom she shared a special bond. She is survived by her four children, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Known for her kindness, loyalty, laughter, and love of sports, Joan will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 9, at 10 a.m. at Rose Hill Presbyterian Church in Kirkland.
