Joan Meskimen, born June 28, 1938, of Seattle, Washington, passed away at age of 85 on December 9, 2023 from complications of pneumonia at St. Anne's Hospital in Burien, WA. Joan still had her playful giggle with her husband and daughters on the day she passed. Joan is preceded in death by her father Lorne Fraser and her mother Beatrice Newman Fraser Davenport; uncle Herbert Newman, aunts Ferne Newman Hughes Mantyla, Bernice Ableman, Betty (BJ) Newman Salvesen and grandparents Emil Erling Newman and Edith Newman.

Joan is survived by her husband, of 65 years, Donald M Meskimen, and their two daughters, Victoria (Vicki) Lee Meskimen McEwen and Patricia (Patti) Joanne Meskimen Edwards; niece Karen Meskimen Wilson. Two grandchildren, Brian Keith McEwen Jr. and Mark Allen McEwen. She is survived by her only sister Diane Fraser Davis Munslow (Tom) of Normandy Park, WA and nephew Steven Davis and so many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joan graduated Roosevelt High School in Seattle and attended University of Washington before marrying Donald Merwin Meskimen, of Raymond, WA whose career in the US State Dept Foreign Service allowed for wonderful adventures of world travel for almost 30 years, to Philippines X2, Jamaica, Israel, Ethiopia, Ecuador, Virginia and Liberia before settling back in USA in Woodinville and Edmonds, WA.

Joan loved to dance, was an avid gardener and would put cuttings, into her purse, from plants along her path, member of the Red Hat Ladies club, loved crossword puzzles, playing bridge and pinochle, RV snow bird traveler, and loved to cook, serve and entertain, so much that she worked as a food demonstrator wherever she could before moving from Edmonds, WA to Wesley Homes Assisted Living with her husband Donald in 2020.

A memorial service to be held at Wesley Homes in Des Moines, WA is being planned for summer of 2024 to accommodate scattering of Joan's ashes in the Wesley Rose Garden, where Joan's mother and aunts resided and to also scatter into the waters of the Puget Sound at Normandy Park, WA.
