JoNell Pope Mahoney was born on July 3, 1931, in Sabinal, TX, and died on February 18, 2026, on Mercer Island, WA. She grew up in Alpine, TX, where she received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Sul Ross State University. She worked as a stewardess for American Airlines based in New York, where she met Daniel Mahoney. They married in 1956 and raised four children together in New York, Chicago and since 1968, on Mercer Island. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Mahoney, in 2015. She is survived by her children Daniel, Jr. (Linda), Molly (Leroy Lutu), John (Liane Pelletier), and Bob (Ellen). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Her funeral Mass will be held on March 5th, 2026, at St. Monica's Church on Mercer Island, at 11:00 AM.
