Joyce Alberta Proudlock Obituary

WA - Joyce Alberta Proudlock, a beloved mother, counselor, and vibrant spirit, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, at the Shoreline Rehab Center. She was born on March 3, 1940, in Seattle, Washington, and lived a life rich with love, service, and passion. Joyce was 84 years old at the time of her passing.

Joyce was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gary Proudlock. She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength in her three devoted sons, Steve Proudlock, Cam Proudlock, Sean Proudlock; Richard Bynum, and Scott and Lisa Oborn who will forever cherish the lessons and memories she imparted throughout their lives.

A proud graduate of Ballard High School, Joyce earned her BA in Human Services from Western Washington State College and later achieved her Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Washington. Her education laid a strong foundation for a fulfilling career in counseling, where she found joy in connecting with others and guiding them through life's challenges. She thrived in her private practice but also made significant contributions as a supervisor for a parent co-op preschool at Seattle Central Community College, where her compassionate nature and insightful guidance impacted countless families.

Joyce was a passionate reader, devouring biographies, political events, and books that explored different cultures. Her thirst for knowledge was matched only by her love for music. Joyce's vibrancy was further reflected in her service with the Coast Guard Auxiliary, where she enjoyed being an active participant in her community.

She was known for her open heart, always celebrating the successes of others and embracing diverse cultures with enthusiasm and respect. Joyce was a woman who refused to embrace modern technology, shunning computers and answering machines, preferring instead the warmth of human connection that defined her life.

The community and all who knew her will gather to honor Joyce's remarkable life at her memorial on April 5, 2025, at 12:00 PM at the Ballinger Community Center, 23000 Lakeview Drive, Mountlake Terrace, 98043.

Joyce Alberta Proudlock will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in peace, having touched so many lives with her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love.
