WA - Judy was a devoted and beloved wife and mother to her husband Dick (Richard Fawcett) and her children Susan, Sharon (John Walker), and Jeffrey (Frances Clements Fawcett) and her two grandchildren — Emily Walker Horton (Graeme) and John Walker. Born in Astoria, Oregon on February 6, 1937, Judy passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025 with loved ones holding her hands.
Judy was raised in Seattle by her mother, Sylvia Wirkkala. She attended the Bush School, and graduated from Garfield High School. Her many childhood friends were part of lasting memories of growing up in the Montlake neighborhood in Seattle. She attended the University of Washington, and was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. Judy met and married Dick Fawcett and enjoyed more than 65 years with him. He was the love of her life.
Activities that Judy enjoyed were camping with her family, canoeing down many rivers including the Willamette and the Yukon, hiking, swimming, gardening, and playing bridge. She was a member of the Lake Forest Park Garden Club for many years. Her family enjoyed taking her to area nurseries to enjoy the flowers, trees, and plants that she loved. Judy was also interested in the birds surrounding her home in Lake Forest Park. She delighted in them and was always sure to feed them and leave water in the bird bath.
Judy enjoyed playing bridge with her husband, and various groups in both Seattle and Lake Forest Park. She also enjoyed her time as an election poll volunteer. She found much happiness visiting the Oregon Coast and Whidbey Island. She loved to swim and was a long time member of the View Ridge Swim and Tennis Club. Having attended the UW, Judy loved Husky Football and she was a loyal fan of the Seahawks and Mariners. It was always fun to enjoy a game with her!
Resilient, and devoted to her family, Judy had a strong spirit and the bluest eyes. She loved her family and will be missed by all who knew her.
