Kaylene E. Moon Obituary

Kaylene Moon flew to heaven Wednesday, June 12th. She was vibrant, loving and full of life until the very end. Kaylene leaves behind two daughters, Laura Macaluso (Jeff) and Julie Rice (Jim), along with four grandchildren, Beau, Jade, Max and Cameron, and two great-grandsons, Gio and Miles. Family meant the world to Kaylene and they loved their Nana deeply.

There was nothing Kaylene could not accomplish. She earned her master's in social work when her girls were in high school and focused on support services for senior citizens for the rest of her career. Kaylene enjoyed 38 years of a loving marriage to Gene Moon. Together they built and cared for the entire family until Gene lost his battle with Alzheimer's in 2019.

Kaylene was always an advocate for those in need and was a champion of causes centered on kindness and compassion. Kaylene lived her final years at Wesley Gardens in Des Moines, a place she called "a beautiful waiting room for heaven." Kaylene impacted many people's lives in a profoundly positive way and will be greatly missed by all.

A celebration of Kaylene's life will be held on July 16th at 1:00 PM at St. Columba's Episcopal Church, 26715 Military Rd S, Kent.
