Laura Lee Parris Obituary

OR - Laura Lee Parris passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, after a beautiful birthday celebration and a life centered on family, friendship, and joy. Born June 9, 1948, she grew up in Bellingham and Seattle, graduating from Queen Anne High School in 1966. Proud of her Icelandic roots, she was crowned "Miss Iceland" at the 1962 World's Fair. She studied English at Western Washington University and finished at the University of Washington.

An adventurer at heart, Laura lived abroad in Germany, traveled extensively with her brother Larry, and never lost her love of exploring. Known as "LaLa" to her granddaughters, she passionately cheered for the Sonics, Seahawks, Huskies, Mariners, and later, Trail Blazers, but nothing matched her pride in watching her kids' and granddaughters' sporting events from the sidelines. Laura formed friendships everywhere she went, opening her home to exchange students and carried her love of music through church choirs, singing groups, and countless impromptu performances. A lifelong skier, she also cherished family trips to Sunriver, Hawaii, and Iceland.

Her career began in elementary teaching and flourished in real estate, where she became both a leader and trusted guide. She worked for 40 years in the local Seattle real estate market and formed many lifelong friends including both her co-workers and clients.

Diagnosed too early with Alzheimer's, Laura's spirit, optimism, and love of music never faded. Surrounded by family, song, and laughter in her final moments, she leaves behind a legacy of compassion, joy, and inclusion. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Harvey Parris & Geira Zophiniasdottir Parris, and brother Lawrence Lyle Parris, MD and is survived by her children Karina (Ted Stark) and Tyler Reymore (Arianna Ross); her granddaughters Parris, Steffenie, and Samantha Stark; and many, many beloved friends. Special thanks to her caregiver, Mary Edwards.

We love you, LaLa. A celebration of life is planned for the end of January. If you would like more information, please email karinastark@gmail.com.
