Lea A. Weier Obituary

WA - LEA A. WEIER passed away peacefully, at the age of 86, surrounded by family and comforted by faith, at her home in Renton, Washington on November 25, 2025.

Lea, the third child of John and Amelia (née Triba) Markhofer, was born in Omaha, Nebraska on October 15, 1939. She graduated in 1958 from St. Bonaventure Catholic High School, Columbus, NE, where she was a member of the band, choir and Catholic Charitable Sodality. Shortly after graduation, she met the love of her life, Harold D. Weier of O'Neill, Nebraska. Lea and Harold married on February 27, 1960, relocated to Seattle, raised three children, and spent over 65 years together.

Lea worked for the Issaquah School District as an aide to assist children in physical development, balance and coordination at May Valley Elementary School, and as a paraeducator in the library and administrative office at Maywood Middle School. A devoted wife and mother, Lea enjoyed planning family outings and vacations, hosting holiday meals and celebrations, playing on a "Jack & Jill" softball team, raising dachshunds, and encouraging her children at their various sports games and band concerts.

In addition to raising her family, one of Lea's greatest enjoyments was dancing - and oh, how she could dance! She had a superb sense of rhythm, flawless coordination and amazing foot dexterity that allowed her to turn and pivot with remarkable fluidity and grace.

Lea had a strong faith and a clear moral compass. A lifelong Catholic and devotee of Mother Teresa, she did not proselytize her beliefs. Rather, she lived in honor of the tenets of her faith.

Lea was predeceased in death by her parents and sisters, Dorothy Kiser and Beverly Green, and survived by her husband, Harold, their three children, Michael (Jill), Steven (Tessie) and Jean (Don), five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral, mass and rosary will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Issaquah, Washington on January 2, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to an organization that supports the needs of children.
