Washington - Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and loyal friend, Lela Harris, née Laney, lost a valiant fight against cancer on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at age 68.
Born in Seattle, WA, to George and Louise Laney, Lela attended Woodmont Elementary and Totem Junior High before graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1971.
Lela is mourned by an extended family, including her sister and forever best friend, Sue Irving, née Laney; brothers George and Kevin Laney; sister-in-law Colleen Preston; niece Taylor Laney; stepchildren James and Randi Harris; and her former in-laws David Harris, Joslin Harris-Gane, and Dave Gane.
The family offers special thanks to Tina Gaylor, née Mingori, for her enduring friendship and commitment, and to Mark Hogden, for graciously sharing his heart and home with Lela as she battled the disease that ultimately took her from us.
A celebration of life and reception in remembrance of Lela will begin at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Yahn & Sons Funeral Home 55 W. Valley Highway, Auburn WA, 98001. In place of flowers, the family suggests making a charitable donation in Lela's honor.
