Lenora (Lenny) Irene Frankfurter passed away on April 27, 2024, in Lynnwood, Washington shortly after her 104th birthday. Lenny was born in Seattle shortly after her parents, Pierena and Antonio DeFaccio emigrated from Italy during the first world war. After graduating from Cleveland High School, Lenny attended the University of Washington. She married the love of her life, David Frankfurter, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho as he prepared to ship off to participate in WWII.
Lenny loved to travel. She took Chinese language classes and visited China. In Africa, she rode an elephant and flew over the jungles of Kenya in a hot air balloon. She toured the Soviet Union. While staying in a small Tuscan Italian town, the locals referred to her as the 90-year old American woman touring on her own. This annoyed her; she was only 87 at the time.
She was a generous woman. Lenny turned her love of sewing into a project to provide warm quilts to those in need. She participated in the Seattle Milk Fund organization for years and provided support for numerous charities.
She is survived by her son Robert Franklin (wife Marilyn Franklin); her son Gregg Franklin (wife Jean Fronzaglio); and her grandson David Franklin (wife Maddy McCrosky). She was preceded in death by her husband David Frankfurter; her son Donn Franklin; her sisters Dolores Mills and Bruna Crossan; and her brother Paul DeFaccio.
Donations in memory of Lenny can be made to Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo.
A Celebration of Lenny's Life will be held for family this summer.
