Ms. Leslie Linda Snodgrass (Leslie) Obituary

WA - Leslie Linda Snodgrass passed away at her home overlooking Lake Washington and the Cascade Mountains on Sunday 14 September 2025 at age 78, after a 17-year battle with cancer.

She was born in Flint, Michigan to Leslie Scott and Priscilla Billie Snodgrass, going on to attend Michigan State University where she received a Masters degree in Fine Arts. After graduating, she immediately headed west and arrived in Seattle, where, meeting many new friends, she enthusiastically made a new home. In the depths of the 1970's recession, she took a position teaching art at Garfield High School, where she taught printmaking and art, and truly loved her students. Being "reduced in force" in a school system budget crisis, she was pleased to enhance her degree with classes at Seattle Central Community College, which provided her a strong basis for a new career in graphic design.

As lead designer for several firms and then running her own studio, she produced numerous award-winning designs for large corporate clients, the City of Seattle, King County, local utilities, the Seattle Philharmonic, Seattle Opera, hospitals, non-profit organizations and many exceptional restaurants and businesses. She closed her studio when diagnosed with cancer in 2008, beginning her long fight.

Ever a proponent of equality and equity, in recent years she was proud to wear her favorite button when and where ever she was out and about:

STAND UP...

RESIST HATE

She was with her sister, Kay Madden of Cerritos, CA; her husband of 40 years, Steve Johnson, a Seattle architect; her wonderful caregiver JB and neighbors when she closed her eyes.

She would be very pleased if any memorial gifts would be made to the Seattle Parks Foundation designated for the upkeep of Seward Park, a place she loved.
