Lucille [Lucy] Mae Caldwell Bloedel passed away peacefully at home with her daughters by her side on June 26, 2024. Born in Newberg, Oregon in 1937 to Audrey and Frank Caldwell, she outlived all of her siblings.
Lucy married her high school sweetheart Elmen Duane Bloedel in Milwaukie, Oregon. She is survived by their three children - Lindy Bloedel Fleming, Monique Bloedel and Troy Bloedel [Shannon]; her five grandchildren - Forrest Fleming, Kevlin Fleming Slingwine [David], Charlotte Bloedel Quillian [Teague], Denham Patricelli [Zöe], and Michael Bloedel; and her great granddaughter - Larkin Quillian.
Lucy was adored by her devoted and extended family and friends. Her unfailing generosity, loving support, and thoughtfulness were legendary. Lucy loved her family, and especially family holidays, which she celebrated with cherished traditions, decoration and rituals. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with her children and grandchildren.
With her innate grace and seeming ease, she nurtured a deep friendship with Elmen after their divorce, which kept the family emotionally whole.
Lucy was loved and appreciated by her innumerable friends: the parishioners of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, her former and new neighbors, book club members, co-workers and random acquaintances. Once Lucy touched your life, she made sure you stayed in her orbit! She showered her thoughtfulness, myriad talents, kindness and endless energy on all, enriching lives and spreading happiness.
A viewing and memorial service will be held in Lucy's honor Friday, August 16th, 2024 at Church of the Good Shepherd, 345 S. 312th Street, Federal Way, Washington 98003, at noon and 1:00pm. In lieu of gifts, donations may be made in her honor to Church of the Good Shepherd.
