Madeline passed away peacefully in Leavenworth among her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. While life wasn't always easy, there was always family. She supported World War II as a riveter at Boeing, while her dearly beloved husband Bob, was in Italy with the 10th Mountain Infantry. At that time, family was there to help with their young daughter, Stephanie. Again, it was family who helped Madeline in her late eighties and nineties, which included Stephanie, and her much loved siblings, Bob and Sheila, along with her eight grandchildren. In the lifetime, in between, there was lots of fun. She was an avid skier, camper, gardener, seamstress, cook and equestrian. She and Bob were featured in a Times article as a couple still skiing into their late seventies. They skied Taos, Vail, Whistler, Sun Valley, Schweitzer Basin and most areas in between. While Madeline spent winters chasing Bob across ski resorts of the Cascade Mountain Range, Bob spent summers chasing Madeline's love of horseback riding in those same mountains, camping along the way. When Bob became a board member of the Mountaineer's Lodge at Mt. Baker, Madeline found herself in the midst of a building project, which was completed in 1960. Those same Pacific Northwest Mountains served as the camping grounds for the entire family, with many weekends spent, filled with laughter, as rain dripped through a hole in an old army tent. The entire family is privileged to carry forward the marvelous traits she embellished, which in turn, will be the source of lots of smiles. You will be missed but never forgotten!
