Washington - Margaret Evelyn Huntington was born on September 7, 1929 to Ralph and Florence Huntington in Davenport, Iowa. She passed away on November 27, 2025 in her home. After growing up in Davenport, she graduated with a teaching degree from Northern Iowa Teachers college.
While she was working as a teacher, she met and married Bob Boyce on December 24th, 1952. They fell in love with the Pacific Northwest when Bob was stationed at Fort Lewis for several years and decided to move to Seattle permanently in 1957.
Margaret had wide-ranging interests, including sports, gardening, reading, watching Hallmark TV, playing games, baking, jam making, museums and the theatre. She volunteered for years in the gift shop, in Girl Scouts, at the Seattle Repertory Theatre and at the Shoreline Historical Museum. (When I say "volunteer", she actually ran the place.)
Although Margaret was a "housewife and mother" during the 1950's and '60's, she was a very independent woman who pursued all of her interests with passion. She was competitive in tennis, softball, bowling and pickleball and played into her 70's and 80's.
Margaret was loved by family, friends, and neighbors alike. She leaves behind her four children, Tom, Jim, Ann and Cate; as well as seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Edmonds Waterfront Center on Saturday, May 30 at 3:00 pm. Appetizers and desserts will be served.
