Margaret Ann (Peggy) Fitzgerald was born on November 28th, 1933 in LaPorte, Indiana and was raised on a farm near Cresco, Iowa by her parents Lucian and Catherine Fitzgerald. She had an older brother John and older sister Mary Ellen, both since deceased. She graduated from College of Saint Teresa in Winona, Minnesota and taught elementary school in Rochester, Minnesota. In 1957, she was married to Dr. F. Richard Dion in Albano, Italy by Joseph Cardinal Pizzardo after which they lived in Yalova, Turkey for two years. They returned to Rochester, MN in 1959 and in 1962 they moved to Seattle. She taught elementary school in Seattle, Washington for a few years. Then in 1987, with some friends, she began a tutoring service called Basic Education Tutors in Madison Park. Her focus was on reading and writing skills. She continued this for 30 years. She and her husband adopted four children. Frank Dion (Fiona), Emily Villa (Mario), David Dion (Katia), Marie Cochran (Samuel). She had four grandchildren Mitia, Zachary, Eleni, and Emma as well as three great grandchildren Elise, Christopher, and Glenn.
