Washington - Mark Frederick Dubach, 76, of Seattle, WA, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2021 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Mark was born on February 14, 1945 in Kansas City, MO and raised in Highland Park, IL. He graduated from Highland Park High School as valedictorian in 1963, and from Carleton College in Northfield, MN in 1967. After studying Chinese at Columbia University in New York, NY, he dropped out and worked as a cab driver.
In 1972, Mark had his first child, Joev, in Ashland, OR. In 1974, Mark moved to Seattle and began his Ph.D. and subsequent long career at the University of Washington, working in research at the Regional Primate Research Center. Mark's decades of work in neuroscience included research into schizophrenia and Parkinson's disease, and a structural atlas of the brain that has helped many other researchers and educators.
After retiring in 2010, Mark spent his time enjoying his passions of Argentine tango dance, mandolin, writing fiction, and participating in writers' groups and book clubs. Mark was a regular attendee and choir member of the Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Church.
Mark is survived by his children Joev Dubach, Alex Smith, and Emily Shack, his siblings Brent Dubach, Jenny Duskey, and Deb Donley, and his grandchildren, Maya and Haven.
